School Resource Officer

My name is Jennifer Billings, and I will be the School Resource Officer at Enka Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year. This will be my second year at Enka Middle School, and I am incredibly excited to be a part of this incredible team!

I am a native of Asheville and have lived here my entire life except for a couple of years on the Carolina Coast. I attended Enka Middle school myself and am a graduate of Enka High School. I earned my Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Mars Hill College. I worked sixteen years in banking and investments before joining the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office in 2013, where I started as a Detention Officer at the Buncombe County Detention Facility. In 2016, I graduated from BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training). I also spent two years in inmate transportation before becoming a School Resource Officer in 2018.

Working as an SRO is dear to my heart. I enjoy interacting with the students on different levels. While my primary goal is to maintain the safety and security of our school, building relationships with students is also one of my top priorities. I am always looking for ways to get to know the students better. Additionally, building relationships with the parents/families of our students is vital to me, and I invite you to stop by to say hello anytime.

In my free time, I love learning, reading, traveling to new places, camping, and spending time with friends and family. I genuinely believe in the Golden Rule, and treating everyone with kindness is always my goal.  I am so happy to be part of this great school, and I can honestly say that there is nowhere else I would rather be.
