The U.S. Army made a compelling visit to T.C. Roberson High School on March 15, hosting an Army Showcase that highlighted the array of STEM careers within military service. The event aimed to introduce students to the high-tech side of the Army, covering fields from robotics and cyber security to healthcare and engineering.
Students experienced interactive presentations and hands-on demonstrations, learning about the Army’s use of cutting edge technologies and the importance of STEM skills in modern military operations. They explored robotic technologies used for bomb disposal and participated in activities that emphasized the significance of cybersecurity in protecting national security.
The healthcare section showcased medical technologies and practices employed by the Army, emphasizing the critical role of medical professionals in the military context. This extended past human healthcare and showcased veterinarian skills as well.
This STEM event in partnership with the U.S. Army highlighted the Army’s ongoing efforts to recruit a skilled workforce adept in technology and innovation, ensuring that students are aware of the various career opportunities beyond traditional military roles.
The day concluded with a distinguished awards ceremony, during which the The Army honored T.C. Roberson with a commemorative plaque in gratitude for their significant contributions and for hosting the STEM day. Principal Nathan Allison, along with Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson, expressed their appreciation to all participants for their dedication and involvement. They further demonstrated their camaraderie by joining in an engaging round of push-ups, adding a spirited finish to the event.
