“I want children to feel special based on who they are on the inside,” said Zapfe. “As a former teacher, all children are special, no matter their age. They all have a place in the world.”

While she’s here, she wanted to share what she calls “biscuit love” to area kids. Each Woodfin student received a copy of the book, along with a Grumpy Biscuit plushy. The toy turns inside out to reveal a smiling biscuit, to go along with Grumpy Biscuit’s transformation in the book.

Zapfe is already working on a sequel, “Grumpy Biscuit: Alone in the Dark.”
