Buncombe County Schools students can choose their own adventure, with free Career Accelerator Summer Camps that offer opportunities to sample several careers.
The camps, produced by BCS Career and Technical Education (CTE), will be offered in two weekly sessions, June 17-20, and June 24-27. They include:
Fuel & Flavor Camp: Based at Enka High School, this camp for rising sixth through eighth grade BCS students combines the thrill of fast cars with culinary careers.
Cupcakes at the Creek: This culinary camp, hosted by Cane Creek Middle School, will help rising sixth through eighth grade BCS students grow their teamwork and creative culinary skills.
Space Jam: Campers can come to Erwin High to explore the spaces and activities of CTE classes, including foods and apparel labs, woodworking shop, and outdoor areas. This camp is offered to rising sixth through twelfth grade BCS students.
Woodworking Camp: Erwin High is also hosting a camp dedicated to woodworking, also for rising sixth through twelfth grade BCS students.
BCS E-Sports Camp: Based at Nesbitt Discovery Academy, this camp will integrate goal setting and relationship building with basic programming and team-based gaming practice. It is offered to rising sixth through twelfth grade BCS students.
The camps are offered to currently enrolled BCS students. The daily schedule is 8:30am - 2:30pm, and includes breakfast and lunch provided by BCS Child Nutrition.
