Enka Middle School’s 8th grade Creative Dramatics class delighted an audience of family and friends with their performance of “Polly Pureheart Prevails” on Wednesday afternoon. The play, a classic melodrama filled with humor and heart, showcased the budding talent and dedication of the actors.

Directed by drama teacher Ellen Wharton, the production featured a lively cast who brought to life the story of Polly Pureheart, a virtuous heroine, as she navigates a series of challenges to triumph over the dastardly villain who turns out to be her long lost brother. The students’ commitment to their roles and teamwork on stage were evident, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.

The performance marks the culmination of the semester’s work in the Creative Dramatics program, which introduces students to theater fundamentals such as character development, stage presence, and collaboration.
