🌲🧗♂️ Enka Middle School students took teamwork to new heights during a visit to the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly.
Guided by teachers and facilitators, students tackled the high ropes course, practiced archery, and laughed through teambuilding games among the beautiful fall scenery. While there, they experienced trust, perseverance, and personal growth. Seventh-grade science teacher Katrina Dodge described the experience as both inspiring and transformative. While some students raced through the high ropes course without hesitation, others battled fear and self-doubt, only to emerge triumphant with newfound confidence.
“My favorite moments were watching the ones who pushed through their fear and worked with one another,” she said. “They discovered they had more ability to conquer a hard task than they first believed.”
Sean, one of the seventh graders, summed up the spirit of the day.
“I was so pumped to tackle the course, but as soon as I started climbing up the net, all I thought was ‘nope,’” he said. “I was scared the entire time, but I kept pushing myself. Once I finished, I wanted to burst with joy. I sat down and yelled, ‘I did it! I did it!’”
